What led you to enter the competition and what do you value the most on it?
I'm a coffee addict and I love illustrating so entering the competition felt like a perfect chance to combine my two most favorite things! The thing that I value most in this competition is that it's international and that is a great opportunity for all different kinds of illustrators to participate to and to learn from this experience.
What inspired your design and what techniques did you use?
I get inspired by the cities that I've lived in like Barcelona, Kouvola, Ústí nad Labem, Biel etc. Inspiration for this design came from the rooftops of Bern. I was admiring them while visiting the city and found them interesting and with lots of character. drew the picture first with ink and then added color and adjusted it on computer.
What's most interesting about your design? What is the story behind the design?
My designs show the way that I view the world and these mundane things and then transform them through my drawings into something more interesting and usually into something way more colorful. With my design I wanted to create a mix of all the cities that I love, and to convey the atmosphere of them.
What did participating in the competition bring to you? Would you take part in it again and why?
I would do it again, even though it's scary putting your work out there to be judged. The feedback that I got from my work has been positive and really valuable for me as an illustrator. It also has given me more confidence with my skills and inspired me to work even harder for my dream which is to be a professional illustrator.
