BA (Hons) Fine Art Experimental Media

3 June 2022, 17.00

Come to the exhibition opening of ЯTUT' and see graduating BA (Hons) Fine Art Experimental Media students final work. The exhibition will run until 7 June.

The age of digital media. Transformation of one’s own artistic practice based on personal experience and outlooks on life. Gathered will be depictions of ideas, forms and thoughts coming to life through the eyes of individuals experiencing a changing state of their own environment in their own ways, unique to their identities. The way that one transforms experiences into art, figures out how to make it accessible to those around them through the use of virtual pilgrimages - a form of escapism, showcasing varying identities from all around the globe.

The title - ЯTUT’, possibly also read as “Ya Tut” (I am Here), is the word for mercury, and a reference to all of us coming together, molten into one single fragment. An explosive combination of minds with different views and ideologies. I am here. We are here.

Foundation Diploma in Art, Design & Media Practice

67% Tomato 58% Society
6 June 2022, 10.00-12.00

Come along to PCU's Polska campus and experience Foundation Art Design and Media Practice's exhibition, 67% Tomato 58% Society.

We decided on this random and intriguing title rather than a generic and clichéd theme, so that we don't give away much about our projects, but instead reflect our personality. All of us are individuals, and our projects reflect that. In addition to our exhibition we will have a DJ and present fun activities such as a Ceramics Station, Poetry Station and Flash Tatoo station.

A Walk on the Wild Side
9 June 2022, 18.00

An exhibition can be a symbol, a place, or a journey, but it can also be a source of conflict or an unfulfilled expectation. Ten students from ten different countries all over the world are graduating together from the programs MA Fine Art and MA Future Design. Featuring video, sculpture, installation, and performance, the exhibition will express the pulse of art & design communities, which have survived and flourished despite the various restrictions during the last two years.

The exhibition bears the same name as the song by Lou Reed, A Walk on the Wild Side. Written in 1972, it explored taboo topics of the time and described individual risky journeys. The lyrics now have a whole new meaning. An uncertain existence is now a new reality, one that we all have to attempt to navigate. Compared to the past, how have we changed as a society? With the same title as the song, the exhibition plays with both past time and present time. Nevertheless, this is not the end, but the beginning of a new Chapter.

Just as the works shift, so do the artists, the designers, and the environment they share. In a way, the work process was like an earthquake, which swept over the land, and the works emerged in the fog amid the ash. Even though the future is unsettled for each artist the simple connections between every work could give a glimpse of where they’re heading, as well as the road they have already walked.

Precarious existence is our new reality, relying on instinct to make our way through. All of us have questions that merge together in the exhibition space. But how to make a choice in the midst of shaking grounds? Could taking a different path benefit you? Is it possible
to make life more worth living, not only for us but also for future generations?

In addition to the exhibition, visitors can participate in the following:

Public Workshop
Playing with Scales - a workshop to examine approaches to creating art using microscopes as creative tools

Public Performance
Performances that are a part of Alexandra Vasic’s project will take place each day in the exhibition hall (10 to 20 mins duration)

Sunday Panel discussion
For the closure of the exhibition ‘A walk on the wild side’ the MA graduates will open a conversation with their teachers and tutors who have guided them through the 2 year programme. The panel aims to create an open conversation about the present art world, its future, and the importance of new artists’ participation in a post pandemic, Central European context.
